Premier Shot Company (PSC) began operations in September, 1988 with the primary purpose of providing industry with a media specifically manufactured for use in high quality shot peening applications - Premier Shot.

During the past few years many advances were made in the shot peening field including: development of computer and robotic equipment; reliable shot flow controllers and sensors; process documentation via hard copy or magnetic mediums; and revised tighter specifications. The purpose of these advances is to make the shot peening process more repeatable and reliable. Unfortunately, shot peening media did not advance as well. Now a significantly improved shot peening media is available.

Premier Shot is a wrought steel cut wire shot engineered and manufactured to exhibit the properties necessary for High Quality shot peening media: improved consistency in size, shape, hardness and density; increased durability, significantly better resistance to fracture; reduced dust generation and much less residue of iron left on the part surface. These improvements result in more consistent processing, lower costs, improved part fatigue life and a cleaner environment in your shot peening process.

Premier Shot is available in sizes from 0.012 inch (0.3 mm) to 0.125 inch (3.0 mm) diameter. Materials normally supplied for shot peening applications are carbon steel and stainless steel (Type 302) shot. Carbon steel media is available in both Standard (S) hardness HRC 50-55 and High (H) hardness HRC 55-60. Other hardness ranges are available upon request (e.g., HRC 60 minimum, HRC 45-50). Premier Shot meets, or exceeds, the requirements of these industry-wide specifications: MIL-S-13165, MIL-S-851, AMS 2431/3, AMS 2431/4, AMS 2431/8 and SAE J441. This product is the highest quality shot peening media available in today's marketplace.
